от редакции: в связи с тем, что публикация данной "новости" вызвала определенный интерес, отклики и вопросы, мы хотим привести дополнительную информацию, которая ближе подводит нас к первоисточнику - текст новости, датированной октябрем 2010 года на сайте BBC и ссылки на научную публикацию миланских ученых. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-11482764 Protein cocktail is 'elixir of lifeA cocktail of amino acids - the building blocks of proteins - is the latest contender in the age-old search for the elixir of life. Scientists gave mice drinking water laced with three amino acids. They said the rodents lived significantly longer than other mice fed a normal diet. The research, reported in a scientific journal, has yet to be tried in people. The study leader said a large patient trial was needed to provide evidence to convince doctors. In experiments, middle-aged healthy male mice were given drinking water containing the amino acids leucine, isoleucine and valine. Dr Enzo Nisoli, of the University of Milan, and colleagues, said it increased the average lifespan of the mice by 12% and boosted their fitness and co-ordination. They wrote in their paper, published in Cell Metabolism: "Our study offers a rationale for deeply exploring the role of amino acids in prevention and control of age-related disorders in humans." The amino acids - three of the 20 that make up proteins - have been shown to extend life span in yeast. However, the precise role of these amino acids in humans is unknown. They are used by bodybuilders to maintain muscle tissue and can be bought in health food stores and online. http://www.cell.com/cell-metabolism/retrieve/pii/S1550413110003049 Branched-Chain Amino Acid Supplementation Promotes Survival and Supports Cardiac and Skeletal Muscle Mitochondrial Biogenesis in Middle-Aged MiceGiuseppe D'Antona1, 2, Maurizio Ragni3, Annalisa Cardile3, Laura Tedesco3, 4, Marta Dossena3, 5, Flavia Bruttini1, 2, Francesca Caliaro1, 2, Giovanni Corsetti6, Roberto Bottinelli1, 2, Michele O. SummaryRecent evidence points to a strong relationship between increased mitochondrial biogenesis and increased survival in eukaryotes. Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) have been shown to extend chronological life span in yeast. However, the role of these amino acids in mitochondrial biogenesis and longevity in mammals is unknown. Here, we show that a BCAA-enriched mixture (BCAAem) increased the average life span of mice. BCAAem supplementation increased mitochondrial biogenesis and sirtuin 1 expression in primary cardiac and skeletal myocytes and in cardiac and skeletal muscle, but not in adipose tissue and liver of middle-aged mice, and this was accompanied by enhanced physical endurance. Moreover, the reactive oxygen species (ROS) defense system genes were upregulated, and ROS production was reduced by BCAAem supplementation. All of the BCAAem-mediated effects were strongly attenuated in endothelial nitric oxide synthase null mutant mice. These data reveal an important antiaging role of BCAAs mediated by mitochondrial biogenesis in mammals. Graphical AbstractHighlights► BCAAem supplementation increases the average life span of male mice ► BCAAem activates mTOR and eNOS signaling pathways ► BCAAem increases mitochondrial biogenesis and ROS defense system in middle-aged mice ► BCAAem supplementation improves age-related muscle deficits Article Outline
